Daniel Brown Joins Baltimore Life as Assistant Vice President, Chief Underwriter

OWINGS MILLS, Md.—The Baltimore Life Insurance Co. announced the appointment of Daniel Brown as Assistant Vice President, Chief Underwriter.

As chief underwriter, Brown’s primary focus will be innovation, which includes updating underwriting guidelines and criteria, engaging in ongoing research trends evolving in the health care and life insurance industries, and ensuring Baltimore Life remains current and competitive with our underwriting practices and standards. He will be responsible for the underwriting staff and daily underwriting production, field relationships, as well as longer-term mortality experience, and the department’s strategy including evaluation and implementation of new data sources and technologies that improve the underwriting process. Brown will report to Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary Harold Rojas.

The role of the chief underwriter here is primarily focused on improving the mortality experience for the Company and driving the process and procedural changes that concurrently improve mortality, while also making the agent and client purchase experience more streamlined and simplified,” said Rojas.

Brown earned his degree in economics from Florida State University and has worked in the life insurance industry for 12 years. He also earned several industry designations which include the Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU), and the Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI).
