L. John Pearson is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer The Baltimore Life Companies.

Prior to joining Baltimore Life in January 1995, Mr. Pearson had been President of Utica National Life Insurance Company since 1986. He served as Vice President of Marketing at Utica National from 1979 to 1986. Prior to his career with Utica National, he was with Security-Connecticut from 1975-1979, and with Phoenix Mutual from 1971-1975.

Mr. Pearson, 59, is a native of Easton, Pennsylvania, and is a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Currently Mr. Pearson serves on the boards of the American Council of Life Insurers and LL Global (overseeing the newly merged Life Office Management Association and Life Insurance Marketing Research Association). He has served on the boards of the Life Insurers Council and the Medical Information Bureau as well as the Life Office Management Association and the Life Insurance Marketing Research Association prior to their merge. He has chaired the MIB board as well as the LIMRA Small Company Committee.

Mr. Pearson currently chairs the YMCA of Central Maryland Board of Directors as well as the Junior Achievement Executive Council. He has served on the boards of the United Way and the Boy Scouts of America Northeast Region as well as that of the local Baltimore Area Council, including three terms as chair. He serves on the board of the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore and the Owings Mills Corporate Roundtable, having served two terms as chair. He has served on the board of the Greater Baltimore Committee and currently chairs the Dickinson College Regional Cabinet.
